After
the success of Dianetics, demand from the public accelerated
and Ron conducted numerous lecture tours to packed halls throughout
the countryall the while relentlessly continuing his
research. Through the '50s, he wrote six more books as he
continued to make breakthrough after breakthrough, forming
the very fundamentals leading to the development of Scientology,
the first workable technology for the improvement of all aspects
of life.
Ron's unrelenting pursuit of more refined
technology whereby man might increase awareness and lead a
happier, more productive life led him to research all barriers
to spiritual gains. He found that spiritual advancement came
to a standstill under the effect of drugs, not to mention
the suppression of a culture itself under drug-related crime.
"Drugs can apparently change the attitude
of a person from his original personality to one secretly
harboring hostilities and hatreds he does not permit to show
on the surface," wrote Ron. "While this may not
hold true in all cases, it does establish a link between drugs
and increasing difficulties with crime, production and the
modern breakdown of social and industrial culture."
Determined to overcome the scourge of drugs
and open the gates to spiritual gain for all, Ron conducted
extensive studies in the fields of vitamins, minerals and
nutrition. These studies paved the way to startling discoveries,
including methodology which saved drug addicts from painful
and dangerous withdrawal symptoms. Ron was also the first
to discover that residues from drugs and other toxins lodge
in the tissues of the body and can adversely continue to affect
one for years, perhaps decades after. From this and further
research into the devastating consequences of accumulated
drugs and toxins in the body, he developed and released the
Purification program in 1979.
Continuing his quest to help man overcome
the obstacles to living, Ron carried on his research and writing
through 1985, amassing an enormous volume of material. Totaling
over 60 million wordsrecorded in books, manuscripts and taped
lecturesthese works are studied and applied daily in hundreds
of Scientology churches, missions and organizations around
the world.
With
his research fully completed and codified, L. Ron Hubbard
departed his body on 24 January 1986. His legacy lives on,
however, opening the way for a prosperous and flourishing
life for millions by bringing them understanding and freedom.
Today there is a pathway for anyone to
travel to attain full spiritual freedom. The entrance is wide
and the route is sure. We have L. Ron Hubbard to acknowledge
as the one who made it all possible.
